St Mary's Catholic Primary Academy

Good attendance throughout your child’s school journey is essential to ensure no elements of the curriculum are missed.

We aim for at least 95% attendance each academic year and there are lots of incentives within school for achieving good attendance.

We do understand that your child will become ill. If they have a temperature, sickness and/or diarrhoea for instance they should be kept at home. All we ask is that you let school know the reason why your child is absent from school. You can do this by email to office@stmarysbatley.co.uk or by ringing 01924 472273. There is an option on the answer phone for informing us of an absence.

School policy is your child remains at home for 24 hours after the last bout of sickness or diarrhoea and 48 hours if they have suffered from both.

Punctuality is also of great importance to us. School starts at 8.55am and register taken immediately. Lessons or assemblies begin by 9am and so children arriving late are often missing valuable parts of the lesson or interrupting Worship. We find children become flustered and embarrassed having to enter class/assembly late. We understand traffic can be a problem but please leave plenty of time to arrive by 8.55am

The attendance policy outlines our aims to keep attendance levels as high as they can be. We urge parents not to take term time leave for holidays. However, if you do, please note that all requests must be made in writing or alternatively please click here to download a holiday request form. If the request is not received by school prior to your absence a fixed penalty notice will be applied regardless of circumstances and % attendance of your child.

Please note ALL SEPTEMBER ABSENCE FOR HOLIDAY WILL BE DECLINED AND SUBJECT TO A FIXED PENALTY NOTICE REGARDLESS OF CIRCUMSTANCE.
