Here at St. Mary’s Nursery Batley we aim to provide a happy, secure, friendly, stimulating environment where children learn and have fun together, supported by an enthusiastic and professional staff team.

Each member of staff is a key person with special responsibility for a small group of children, giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for. They will also work to build good relationships with parents.

  • How will my child settle into the unit?

Every child is different and they will all settle in their own way. We want each child to become comfortable and happy within the unit.

We will invite you and your child to visit the unit and meet the staff in the term before they start.

On the visit we will provide you with a start date and you will be able to have a chat to your child’s key worker.

On your child’s first day we ask you to come into the unit and settle them before leaving them for 1 hour on their own. If they are happy and settled with us they will be able to attend the following day for the full session.

Some children find it hard to leave their adult for the first time and this transition into school can take longer. We want each child to feel happy and excited to come to school and so we always allow the child to set the pace.
